Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Park Hall Academy
At Park Hall Academy, we are dedicated to ensuring every student learns in a safe, caring, and enriching environment. The safety and well-being of our children are our highest priorities; we are committed to protecting them from harm, abuse, and neglect so they can thrive and grow with confidence.

Our Commitment to Students
We foster a culture of vigilance and support through:

  • Prevention & Education: We raise students’ awareness of how to keep themselves and others safe by teaching them about online safety, healthy relationships, and how to recognise risk. Students know how and where to seek help.
  • Protection: We maintain rigorous policies to address all forms of abuse. Every allegation is handled with the highest level of seriousness in line with national statutory guidance.
  • Expert Staff: All team members undergo regular training. Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) possess the specialist knowledge required to manage complex safeguarding issues.

Working with Parents and Partners
Safeguarding is a shared responsibility with all stakeholders. We appreciate open communication with parents and carers to support our students both at school and at home.

Please note our legal obligations:
We have a statutory duty to share concerns regarding a child’s safety with external agencies, such as Children’s Social Care or the Police. While we aim to keep parents informed of any referrals, there are occasions where professional advice requires us to report concerns before speaking with the family. We follow these legal protocols strictly to ensure we act in the best interests of the child.

Reporting a Concern
If you have any questions or are worried about the safety of a young person, please contact a member of our Safeguarding Team immediately.

Students
Safeguarding is a big word that basically means "keeping children safe and happy." Adults use this word to talk about all the things they do to make sure you are looked after properly and protected from anything that might hurt you.

Here is what safeguarding means in a way that’s easier to understand:

  • A Safe Home and Good Care: It means making sure you have a safe place to live and people who look after you with kindness and love.
  • Helping You Be Your Best: It’s about adults taking action to help you grow up healthy, learn new things, and have the best life possible.
  • Keeping Your Body and Mind Healthy: It means making sure nothing stops you from growing properly or feeling good in your head and heart.
  • Protecting You from Mean Treatment: It means adults are always watching out to make sure nobody is mean to you or treats you in a way that makes you feel scared or hurt.

In short, it’s about making sure every child has what they need to be safe, healthy, and happy!

What you can do to help keep yourself and others safe:
Concerned about a friend?

Friendship/peer groups making you uncomfortable or sad?

Worried about things happening at home or at school?

If you see or hear something that makes you sad, scared or worried about you or someone else, tell someone.  People you can tell include:
