Sixth Form - Top of the Local League!

The publication of the 6th form performance tables in January has once again reflected good news for Park Hall Sixth Form. Park Hall came top of the local performance tables for A level results for the third year running. In terms of average point score per A level entry and per A level student, Park Hall outperformed all other local 6th forms including Smiths Woos, John Henry Newman, Grace Academy, and Coleshill. Park Hall was also the 6th form with the highest number of A level entries (71) compared to Smiths Wood (53) Grace Academy (65) and John Henry Newman (37).
Park Hall also topped the tables for Academic progress. This is a measure of academic performance against national targets based on students' GCSE performance. This confirms that Park Hall Sixth Formers make greater progress in academic subjects (from their starting points) than at any other local school 6th form. By this measure our levels of academic progress also exceeded those made by students at Solihull College or the Sixth Form College Solihull.
In terms of vocational performance a number of our local sixth forms performed very well in 2014 with students from Park Hall, John Henry Newman, and CTC all achieveing an average of a Distinction grage or better. Park Hall tops this table on average point score per student rather than per qualification. This reflects the fact that a higher proportion of Park Hall 6th formers studying vocational qualifications, study the equivalent of a 4 subjects rather than 3, with a number of students combining vocational qualifications with A level study.
Whilst most of our local school sixth forms are clearly progressing, it is with great pride that Park Hall Sixth Form can once again say that it 'tops the table' as it had done in 2012 and 2013.
The Sixth Form can be considered a real strength of the school and the outstanding achievements of many of our students (such as Jess Schofield who achieved 3 grade A's in her History, Business and Politics A levels in 2014) serve as a fine reflection of what Park Hall students can achieve.
I would like to thank students, staff and parents for their combined efforts in keeping our 6th form 'top of the table'. With more than 100 of our own Year 11s so far applying to study in the sixth form next year we can look forward to even better results in the future.
